At Woodfield School, we understand that every student is unique, with their own set of strengths, challenges, and aspirations. That’s why our approach to education is centred around creating individualised learning pathways, ensuring each child receives the support and opportunities they need to thrive.

Personalised Learning for Every Student

Our students benefit from full access to the National Curriculum, but with a crucial difference: we tailor the curriculum to meet individual abilities and learning styles. This differentiation ensures that each student can engage with their education in a way that is both challenging and achievable.

Our small class sizes, with a maximum of six students per teacher and a minimum of one teaching assistant, allow for a high level of personalised attention. In Key Stages 2 and 3, students follow a primary-based model, where they are primarily taught by the same teacher to provide consistency and structure. This approach is crucial for creating a predictable and supportive learning environment, which is especially beneficial for our students.

Flexible Pathways for Older Students

As our students reach Key Stage 4, they are presented with more choices to suit their evolving interests and abilities. Whether they choose to pursue GCSEs, vocational courses through NOCN and ASDAN, or a combination of both, their education is tailored to help them achieve their goals. We also offer opportunities for work experience and connections with local colleges, ensuring that each student is on a pathway that aligns with their future aspirations.

Holistic Support through Therapy and Wellbeing

Recognising the diverse needs of our students, Woodfield School provides access to a range of therapeutic services. Students can participate in small group or one-on-one sessions with Speech Language & Communication Therapists or Occupational Therapists, depending on their individual needs. Additionally, on-site counselling is available to support students’ emotional and mental well-being.

Tracking Progress and Celebrating Success

To ensure our students are on the right track, we hold half-termly meetings with our multi-disciplinary team to assess progress against each child’s Individual Learning Plan, which is informed by their Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) targets. Regular monitoring and tracking of academic progress allow us to implement timely interventions when needed, ensuring that every student continues to make strides in their learning.

A Supportive Environment for Positive Outcomes

Our ethos at Woodfield School is deeply rooted in our commitment to providing a nurturing, safe, and enabling environment. We strive to help our students build confidence, develop resilience, and acquire the skills they need to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives. By supporting each child’s journey with care and dedication, we aim to empower them to achieve their aspirations and become valued members of their communities.
